Guestscan is a groundbreaking initiative that promises to safeguard Britain's small hotels, B&Bs, Holiday homes and Caravan and camping sites from 'nightmare guests'.

The Guestscan Association - the first of its kind in Europe - will allow accommodation owners to check out customers before confirming a booking.

Members of the association will have access to an online database of known troublemakers.

It means they can identify and easily filter problem guests in advance - reducing the risk of trashed rooms, non-payment or anti-social behaviour.

The majority of guests are a delight to have but it only takes one bad guest to ruin the experience for other guests as well as ruin your hard earned reputation.

The scheme relies on a comprehensive online database that members can access instantaneously via a PC, laptop or smartphone.

Guestscan complies with the data protection laws and maintains records on past offenders. Members of the Association are provided with a unique access code in order to retrieve information about a specific guest immediately.

If no adverse report appears, accommodation owners can rest easier in the knowledge that the customer has had no previous recorded misdemeanours - and accept the booking.

Guestscan is not a B&B Blacklist, and does not intend its services to be a blacklist. Through innovative strategies, we have avoided the blacklist route and provide a service that helps safeguard Britain's small hotels, B&Bs, Holiday homes and Caravan and camping sites.

Guestscan will also enable owners to reduce risk in the increasingly complex area of insurance and litigation by providing an introduction to specialist insurance and legal advice.
